Are you listening my dear Coimbatore?

As I touch the city’s limits
The air turns pleasant
Cool as cucumber
Announcing it’s arrival:
Coimbatore!

Take me from wherever
Leave me blindfolded here
Still I can make it
Air whistling through palakkad gap
 Caressing  me soft and cool
The sweet tasting siruvani water
The floating voices
In the local trademark kongu tamil
All announce where I am:
Coimbatore!

Cotton spins into yarn
Yarn  weaves into fabric
Fabric stitches into  garments
And make their journey
Worldwide to be adorned by the
World’s populace
Manchester of south!
Coimbatore!

Metals, non-metals, bolts and nuts
Make themselves into motors,
Pumps, Grinders, mixies , wash machines
Cement, Machines and what not
Tools and dies
Machines and Hands
All combine in their making
A magic of materials, machines and men!
Latest IT bandwagon too joined in
Enacting the fabulous show in :
Coimbatore!

The bazaar streets
Business edifices, the  complexes
The shopping inmates
Travelling tourists
Visiting workers and blokes
Turn it into a beehive of activity:
Yea a action packed
Coimbatore!

A place of pride for sure
Still the bomb blasts and
The communal killings after the blast
All turned it into a place of shame too
Place of present pride and past shame
That is :
Coimbatore!

Dark sides shadow the Light
Scars mar the beauty like the earth
With the beautiful day
And the gory night
Side by side
A fact true in here too, that is:
Coimbatore!

Roads are barely motorable
Yet not walkable
The narrow streets
Remaining a living testimony
To a city most unplanned
The ever mad population’s quest
To inhabit and dwell
Has cut into the nature’s dwellings
In the periphery and outer limits
A sorry tale to tell about my dear
Coimbatore!

On the Coimbatore Chess board
The population sickness
Checkmates the Coolness and the
Siruvani water’s sweetness
Cool is no longer cool
Sweet is no longer Sweet
With hotness and sourness seeping in
By the teeming population’s expanse
Sad but true is the new face of
Coimbatore!

Yet all is not over for my dear city
A go green campaign
May still weave a magic
All have to come forward
To make this happen
Let us make it happen
Are u listening my dear,
Coimbatore?

Oh Bangalore I love and envy you!

When I touch the city’s limits
The coolness and comfort
Go several grades up
The temperature dips several degrees down
A pleasant inverse
To traverse!

A city still to be explored in full
What little explored
Enthralls  me no end
A garden city
With a garden adorning each locality-
Is just one special in this
Enclave of specials!

A dress-shoppers’ delight
With myriads of designs
And shades all fitting
Even a shallow pocket
Weight based sales of dresses
Ensure more dresses for the
Same pennies to get a few elsewhere
Making one love a lot
This great Bangalore!

The yummy fast food eateries
The beverage serving pubs
Make it a nice place to toast!
A tasty and yummy
Bangalore!

Once unheard of  Shivaji nagar
Kempe gowda circle,
The famed vishveshwaraya museum
The wonderful lalbagh
The gracious  Vidhan soudha
All get familiar
As I explore and cherish
The joy of joys
That is Bangalore!

A tourists’ delight
Multi-language speaking
Diverse needs catering
All region blokes sheltering Bangalore!

My own Tamil gets common
In chats and trades
Solace to know this is a city
For my own Tamils,
Thank you Bangalore!

A haven for IT behemoths
Heaven for the working genies
A destination to note
On the sprawling world map itself
Salam Bangalore! I love you and envy
I love for your beauty and comfort
Envy for you are not my own city!

A city to be transported to their own city
If only one had the means and methods to do it
Yea, the enviable Bangalore!

Still dark sides cloud and shroud
The dazzling Bangalore
Linguistic feuds
Centuries old Cauvery water disputes
Putting it’s head to shame
Now and then-
Uncharacteristic for a characterful city
Shake them off Bangalore!

Show to the world
You are as nice as you appear
Making you a more lovable
More enviable Bangalore!
