Come back Goddard, we need you

At a time the rocketry wizards grappling
with the idea of rockets to travel to stars and beyond
Goddard you father of modern of rocketry
no more with us, gone to sleep in your tomb
Come back  Goddard, we need you

Resurrect yourself like the phoenix bird
Rising from the ashes, stir, arise from the
Skeletal remains of you, emerge out of
The tomb holding you in peaceful sleep
The time for you to be amongst us

You deduced Newton’s third law of motion
Works for the rocket , the thrust generated
By the hot energy of burning gases
Converted into mechanical motion by the thrust
generated for lift off, acceleration, coasting into space

You rightly determined thrust works in vaccum too
Visualizing the rocket to escape into space
With right mass, propellants, exhaust velocity
You found the liquid propellants more efficient
You created the mathematics for the rocket

The dream of travel to stars remains a distant dream
the light years distances proving stumbling blocks
we need more imaginative propulsions, ionic,
anti-matter , nuclear propulsion one that propulsion
will finally take us to stars with imaginative shrinkage of space

So come back Goddard renew your work
Work on ingenious propulsions, find a way
To shrink the light years, your propulsion
Will work taking us to stars and beyond
Let there be that history making count down soon

-Mohan Sanjeevan

N.B:- This is not to discredit the present day rocketry scientists, just a tribute to Robert Goddard on the day of his liquid fuel rocket launch completing 90 years and to express the wish for the development of rockets travelling to stars
