Demonetization: boon or bane?

Never in the history of my life
A decision and announcement
Caught the nation wide attention
With mixed reactions of welcome and protest
Yes: The demonetization: boon or bane?

The announcement to ban the higher
Denomination currencies in 500, 1000 notes
Seemed a welcome move to root out black money
as 80 percent of the money is in these denominatons
of which a very good percentage in black money

Announced just hours before midnight
got everyone off guard and by surprise
those alert immediately gathered at the ATMs
before the midnight arrival for withdrawals
in valid currencies to be for their survival

Sympathy to the genuine exchangers
Suffering in unabated serpentine queues
In banks, swelling, swelling and swelling
As the days went by, or they all genuine
Have so many notes to exchange?

Being decent salaried I had very few
Higher denominations so exchange done with ease
High serpentine queues pointed to benami exchanges
Also reminded the unpreparedness of having
Lower denominations to serve the hapless populace

A queue is a queue, people’s sufferings are sufferings
The exchanges could have been tackled prudently
With more alert steps and more preparedness
For me I see no change in the life, people
Are travelling around, everywhere, as if nothing matters

I for sure have more attention on me as ever
While on travel suffering a lot, followed, threatened
had my smart phone stolen, as if nothing matters more
My grievance apart I watch the demonetization saga
Unbiased, Ok is it boon or bane, only time will tell!

-Mohan Sanjeevan

P.S: If the intention of the move is real I still support the move
Out come let us see, im watching
